Jason says “I’ll be heartbroken if we don’t get a second season”

Jason talks The Event with PopWrap in this interview. Read it below!

PopWrap: When you signed on to “The Event,” it could have gone in a million directions — how do you feel about Sean’s storyline?
Jason Ritter: It’s been pretty incredible. This journey has shown Sean things he never knew existed and made him do things he never thought he would, or could. It’s been interesting to see his innocence stripped away. He’s not able to only do things that are 100% right now he’s basically on a quest to set things right.

PW: He really has changed — I mean last week he used the butt of a gun to knock an innocent woman unconscious.
Jason: Yea [laughs]. He knows in that moment that if he doesn’t do this horrible thing, something much more horrible will happen. He is trying to save their lives but knocking out two innocent people is new terrain for him. He’s had to shut off certain parts of himself that he had in the first episodes – his emotions have hardened a lot.

PW: Where will these final few episodes lead Sean?
Jason: He gets pulled even further down the rabbit hole in terms of what he’s forced to do in order to “do the right thing.” He learns just how high the stakes are and that it’s not just about his family any more — he’s fighting for every single person this planet. We also get to see how his and Vicky’s relationship evolves [laughs] since they hate each other but are forced to work together.
